Devoid of the congestion of city life and traffic rush, the home-stay in its beautiful cottages with equipped with basic amenities offers you a chance to experience the village life as well as the Sikkimese culture, language, rituals, custom and culinary experiences.

Run by a very cordial host family, the place grows their own vegetables and other food items too as the owners are working towards the goal of sustainable and responsible tourism around the village. Home-cooked meals by the lady of the house, the collection of books and magazines, the village tours and the chance to taste the local drink Tongba in front of a bonfire can create the memories of a lifetime, and the adventure enthusiastic people cannot miss the waterfall treks and birding experiences nearby.

Outdoor Activities at Pelling Home Stay

Village Walk and River Belt Walk: Drench in the scenic beauty and fresh air, experience the simplicity and warmth of the welcoming smile of the local people in the village. This can give a chance to know about their diverse culture, ritual, custom and heritage, as well as their first-hand knowledge of local flora and fauna, the stories from history and mythology.

Local Trek: Low altitude Rani Dunga trek can be organised where the height is approx eight thousand ft.

Eco-Tourism Experiences: This place gives you a chance to know about traditional Sikkimese food preparation, cow milking, feeding animals, fishing, vegetable gardening, herbal bath, or just sitting and reading books to relax.

Nearby Attractions at Pelling

Rimbi Waterfalls and Orange Garden: A waterfalls with surrounded by plantations. The Govt. funded orange garden has a good view and a sitting option.

Village Temple and Monastery: Sanghak Choeling Monastery is one of the nearest monasteries and must visit for tourists. There are other local temples and nearby monasteries for enthusiasts too.

Pelling Helipad: This helipad is used occasionally for transportation. It is a good spot to visit and has a good view of the open plateau.

Rabdentse Ruins:The ancient capital of Sikkim, around 17-18th century, great for history buffs and trekkers alike. Offers a great view of the surrounding area.

Khecheopalri Lake and Kanchandzanga Falls: A holy place for both Hindus and Buddhists. The lake is a wish-fulfilling lake. The waterfall is pristine and is believed that it is originated high in the glaciers of the mountain.

Besides all these, the property can arrange for combined 7 points sightseeing tour by vehicle, and a chance to see traditional Carpet Weaving, village Market (Saturdays Only).

Best Time to Visit Pelling

Winter is harsh and cold but the sky stays clear from the month of December but the temperature may fall below -5 degree sometimes. Summer in March to May-end is pleasant and good for tours. In the monsoon season, cloud covers and heavy rainfalls make the journey a bit difficult for the uninitiated.

How to Reach

Rail: The nearest rail-station is NJP. From NJP it is nearly 140 km which takes around 5 hours to reach.

Air: Pakyong is the nearest airport. From there the distance is 125 km and takes around 4 hours to reach

Road: From Kolkata, it is connected by Badshahi Road and NH 12 or alternatively NH 19. It is 681-790 km approx and takes 18 hours to reach.
