You are going through a hectic week at work and the colleague you secretly hate manages a long weekend off and goes vacationing. What could be worse than this? Unfair? Obviously, yes! But if we can’t find you the best-ever destination to soothe your soul and make your haters jealous at the same time, what are we even for?

Ramdhura – An Offbeat Kalimpong Destination

We present – Ramdhura. Have you heard of Ramdhura? If you did, chances are you already loved the idea of this place. If you did not, let me tell you about Ramdhura. The place gets its name from the name of Lord Ram, and Dhura means a village in the local language. The weather of Ramdhura is not harsh at all, and rather a pleasant cold throughout the year. It is exceptionally famous for its superior views of the Kanchenjunga Mountain Range, which is why it is important to avoid the monsoons if you want to behold the beauty of the mountains, as the skies become cloudy during monsoon and hamper the clarity. The village is home to thousands of vibrant flowers, exquisite butterflies, and dense green colonies of pine trees. The forest trails are picturesque enough to post on your social media handles, and mesmerizing enough to take your breath away. However, it’s not easy to find a resort in such offbeat places without compromising your comfort to some extent but don’t worry, we found you a place.

Accommodation at Ramdhura Homestay

Ramdhura Homestay is a place where you can feel at home enough to chill your heart out, while also enjoying breathtaking views of the Kanchenjunga. The rooms are very clean and spacious, and the staff at Ramdhura Homestay is extremely cordial to their guests. The resort is also close to the local Cinchona Plantation and Pine forests where you can take a relaxing stroll on a lazy winter afternoon. From the resort campus, you can experience the diamond-like glittery shine of the township below the cliff, although don’t blame us if they dazzle your eyes.

Nearby attractions of Ramdhura

Delo Park: The popular Delo Park is only 9 km away from our resort. It’s a beautiful viewpoint with various recreational activities. You can do Horse riding and even Hang Gliding! The dense forest is very refreshing to our digitally tired eyes. You can even see clusters of clouds passing through the forest! The park also consists of a small shop from where you can buy handicraft items and souvenirs.

Pedong Monastery: Originally named Sangchen Dorjee Monastery, Pedong Monastery is a peaceful Bhutanese Monastery. A simple 20-minute car ride can take you to this place. The spiritual vibe of this place is extremely comforting. There is also a museum containing culturally and historically rich items bought from Tibet.

Damsang Fort: Scientists who say time travel is physically impossible, surely haven’t been to Damsang Fort. Standing in front of the ruins, you’ll feel closer to history than to the present. Who knew that the past is only 15 km away from Ramdhura?

How to reach

By road: Although our resort is only 80 km from the busy Siliguri Town, there is no direct bus service from Siliguri to Ramdhura. You have to reach Kalimpong by bus and then take a cab for 15 km from Kalimpong. However, it is easier to simply take a cab from Siliguri to Ramdhura.

By rail: The nearest railway station, NJP, lies only 87 km away. You’ll need to hire a cab from NJP to reach our resort.

By air: The nearest airport is the Bagdogra International Airport which is 92 km away from the Ramdhura Homestay.

Pricing Of Ramdhura Homestay

INR 1,550 + GST per day per head including breakfast lunch & dinner

Child Policy

Baby below 5 years is complimentary.

Kids between 5 years to 10 years is half price.

Children above 10 years will be charged full

Checkout other offbeat places in Kalimpong

Know more about our Kalimpong from our blog post

The post Ramdhura Homestay with Kanchenjungha View | Offbeat Kalimpong appeared first on Nomadic Weekends.

Bon Pahari-Buxa

admin

Bon Pahari in Buxa: a perfect place to relax your body, mind and soul To one who has been long in city pent its been always a blessing to spend some indolent hours in the lap of nature. If you are looking for some unexplored divinity on the earth to crash down yourself in the lap of mother nature, then you must visit this mesmeric place.

This place is far away from the busy life of the city. G-Plot boasts about the village culture and takes you far from the hustle and bustle of your daily urban life. Let’s have a look into the details of the roots for your convenience. The first one is as follows:

Root 1:

Avail a train to Kakdwip, from there take a Bus to Patharpratima. It takes around 45 minutes to reach Patharpratima from Kakdwip. After reaching Patharpratima you can take a toto to reach the ferry ghat. From there you should take a ferry to Chandmari and get down at Chandmari Ghat. It will take around 1 hour to cover the distance. Here you will find local van rickshaws to take you to Gobardhanpur. You will reach the island in around 45 minutes after boarding into the van.

Also, you can look for the direct Bus service from Esplanade to Patharpratima, which starts the journey every morning at around 5:00 AM. If you hate the break journeys you can avail of this option too. It will refrain you to take a train to Kakdwip and then a Bus to Patharpratima. You can directly cover a big distance through a single bus journey. The choice is yours.

Root 2:

The second root is described here as follows:

You can take a train to Lakshmikantapur. After reaching there take a Bus or Auto to Ramganga. It takes around 1 and a half hours to cover the journey from Lakshmikantapur to Ramganga. Ramganga is just the opposite ghat of Patharpratima, facing each other.

Here you have the option to enjoy a ferry ride to reach Chandmari Ghat, and it will take around an hour again to reach there. From Chandmari Ghat to Gobardhanpur the transport is the same as before, and that is the van Rickshaw, which takes around 45 minutes.

Where to Stay

Being an unexplored virgin island in the confluence of sea and river this place has not many hotels and resorts till now. Some nature lovers have converted a large place of the clubhouse into a homestay kind of place for enthusiastic tourists.

G-Plot Baghajatin Club Cottage

Some enthusiasts have renovated a big area of local village club into a cottage to support and boost tourism. Here you can rejuvenate your stay with your family or team members and locals, having a cup of tea or you can just relax after a long walk on the beach.

The hall also serves as a dining place in the cottage, having a table on one end and 2 beds on the other end where another 3-4 person can accommodate easily.

So in total, the place can accommodate around 9 – 10 persons at a time. If you are not such a big group, no problem, this cottage would not allow another group of people with you.
