You are going through a hectic week at work and the colleague you secretly hate manages a long weekend off and goes vacationing. What could be worse than this? Unfair? Obviously, yes! But if we can’t find you the best-ever destination to soothe your soul and make your haters jealous at the same time, what are we even for?

Ramdhura – An Offbeat Kalimpong Destination

We present – Ramdhura. Have you heard of Ramdhura? If you did, chances are you already loved the idea of this place. If you did not, let me tell you about Ramdhura. The place gets its name from the name of Lord Ram, and Dhura means a village in the local language. The weather of Ramdhura is not harsh at all, and rather a pleasant cold throughout the year. It is exceptionally famous for its superior views of the Kanchenjunga Mountain Range, which is why it is important to avoid the monsoons if you want to behold the beauty of the mountains, as the skies become cloudy during monsoon and hamper the clarity. The village is home to thousands of vibrant flowers, exquisite butterflies, and dense green colonies of pine trees. The forest trails are picturesque enough to post on your social media handles, and mesmerizing enough to take your breath away. However, it’s not easy to find a resort in such offbeat places without compromising your comfort to some extent but don’t worry, we found you a place.

Accommodation at Ramdhura Homestay

Ramdhura Homestay is a place where you can feel at home enough to chill your heart out, while also enjoying breathtaking views of the Kanchenjunga. The rooms are very clean and spacious, and the staff at Ramdhura Homestay is extremely cordial to their guests. The resort is also close to the local Cinchona Plantation and Pine forests where you can take a relaxing stroll on a lazy winter afternoon. From the resort campus, you can experience the diamond-like glittery shine of the township below the cliff, although don’t blame us if they dazzle your eyes.

Nearby attractions of Ramdhura

Delo Park: The popular Delo Park is only 9 km away from our resort. It’s a beautiful viewpoint with various recreational activities. You can do Horse riding and even Hang Gliding! The dense forest is very refreshing to our digitally tired eyes. You can even see clusters of clouds passing through the forest! The park also consists of a small shop from where you can buy handicraft items and souvenirs.

Pedong Monastery: Originally named Sangchen Dorjee Monastery, Pedong Monastery is a peaceful Bhutanese Monastery. A simple 20-minute car ride can take you to this place. The spiritual vibe of this place is extremely comforting. There is also a museum containing culturally and historically rich items bought from Tibet.

Damsang Fort: Scientists who say time travel is physically impossible, surely haven’t been to Damsang Fort. Standing in front of the ruins, you’ll feel closer to history than to the present. Who knew that the past is only 15 km away from Ramdhura?

How to reach

By road: Although our resort is only 80 km from the busy Siliguri Town, there is no direct bus service from Siliguri to Ramdhura. You have to reach Kalimpong by bus and then take a cab for 15 km from Kalimpong. However, it is easier to simply take a cab from Siliguri to Ramdhura.

By rail: The nearest railway station, NJP, lies only 87 km away. You’ll need to hire a cab from NJP to reach our resort.

By air: The nearest airport is the Bagdogra International Airport which is 92 km away from the Ramdhura Homestay.

Pricing Of Ramdhura Homestay

INR 1,550 + GST per day per head including breakfast lunch & dinner

Child Policy

Baby below 5 years is complimentary.

Kids between 5 years to 10 years is half price.

Children above 10 years will be charged full

Checkout other offbeat places in Kalimpong

Know more about our Kalimpong from our blog post

The post Ramdhura Homestay with Kanchenjungha View | Offbeat Kalimpong appeared first on Nomadic Weekends.

Sittong Tea Garden Homestay

admin

Kanchenjungha and Tea Garden both from the window staring at you – hows that. What are you waiting for come to Sittong Tea Garden Homestay.

What do you think about Tea gardens in general? If you ask me, I’ll say tea gardens are one of the most soothing places on earth. Lush greenery, symmetrical tea shrubs – it often seems unreal and cinematic. The serene ambiance, beautiful orchards, exquisite greenery, and colorful flowers – is one of the best natural combinations you’ll ever experience.

Sittong is a cluster of little hamlets in the Kurseong Subdivision. It has an average altitude of almost 4000 ft. Although it is a great location with amazing views, Sittong is still fairly untouched by a swarm of tourists. If you are looking for a shopping complex or a great restaurant, Sittong might not be great for you, but if you are looking for a place with exceptional natural beauty, a peaceful atmosphere, and the best backdrop to watch the magnificent Mt. Kanchenjunga – Sittong is the best place to be.

Accommodation at Sittong Tea Garden Homestay

Our property, The Tea Garden View Resort is a beautiful, comfortable yet quaint staying option in Sittong. Take a walk on the nearby forest trail, take a hot shower, and have a cup of tea- watch your stress go away while you stay with us.

Nearby attractions of Sittong

Shelpu Orange Orchards

Sittong is fondly called the ‘Land of Oranges. It’d be a shame if you went to Sittong but did not visit the orange orchards. Located only 30 km away, Shelpu is a small hamlet nearby, specifically famous for its orange orchards. These orchards are private and it requires a nominal fee to enter the orchards. The best time to visit is between November and January when you can see the orange orchards in full bloom.

Ahaldhara Viewpoint

It is one of the more well-known spots to visit nearby. The distance between Ahaldhara Viewpoint and Sittong is around 32 km. In Ahaldhara, you can experience a 360-degree view of the entire mountain range including the Kanchenjunga Mountains. You can also see a rock formation resembling the famous poet Rabindranath Tagore.

Sittong Lepcha Monastery

Many of us love the smell of heritage. That’s exactly what you’ll get here. The monastery is 350 years old and used to be the palace of the Lepcha Queen. The peaceful place is ideal to get in touch with your inner self in the lap of nature.

How to reach Sittong

By Road: Thanks to social media, Sittong is well-known among all cab drivers. You can easily take a cab from Siliguri and travel 26 km via the Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary and Rongtong to reach Sittong in less than an hour.

By Rail: The nearest railway station is the NJP station and it roughly takes the same time as Siliguri to reach Sittong from NJP station.

By Air: Bagdogra Airport is only 37 km away from Sittong and shared cabs are available to rent near the airport.

Pricing of Sittong Tea Garden Homestay

INR 1650 + 5% GST Per Head Including breakfast, lunch, and Dinner with stay

Child Policy
Kids between 1 to 5 years are complimentary

For children from 6 to 10 years, you need to pay half the price.

Above 10 years you need to pay full price for children.

Check Out other places to stay in Sittong

Know more about North Bengal from our blog post

The post Sittong Tea Garden Homestay appeared first on Nomadic Weekends.

Ghatakpukur Eco Resort | Pet Friendly | Wifi Connected | 1 hour from Kolkata

admin

Looking for pet friendly, Wifi connected property, or some greenery with water bodies?
