The Eastern Himalayan biodiversity, tea gardens, the roaring Teesta River, and dense forests of fir, rhododendron, and bamboo welcome you to this natural escape. Come to Peshok Eco Homestay to relax and rejuvenate in the lap of nature.

The British government established tea plantations in the Darjeeling hills in the mid-1800s. Peshok, a quiet and scenic village in the Darjeeling district, is home to one of these early tea estates. The British planters brought in Nepali workers, many of whose descendants still live here. Although the Lepchas are the original inhabitants, the Nepali or Gorkha community now forms the majority of the population, along with some Bhutia and Bengali residents.

In modern times, Peshok Tea Estate is on the verge of shutting down due to poor management and labour disputes. The declining tea economy has forced the inhabitants to explore new sources of income.

Political turmoil and mismanagement have taken a toll on Peshok, but nature continues to bless the region.

Accommodation at Peshok Eco Homestay

The homestay is surrounded by tea gardens and offers an excellent view of Mt. Kanchenjunga. It overlooks the Kalimpong valley, and at night, when the distant house lights flicker, the valley appears like a canvas scattered with stars. A bonfire and BBQ chicken under the starlit sky, along with the breathtaking view of Kalimpong, make the stay truly special.

There are 3 cottages with 4 beds each, accommodating up to 12 guests. The rooms and bathrooms are clean, airy, well-lit, and extremely cozy. The food is homely and organic. Vegetables are picked fresh from the small farm within the homestay, and the chicken served is usually local ‘desi chicken.’

Nearby Attractions

Lamahatta Park – A peaceful eco-park known for its manicured gardens, pine trees, and romantic prayer flags fluttering in the mountain breeze.

Gumbadhara View Point – A hidden gem offering panoramic views of the valleys and majestic Kanchenjunga on clear days.

Triveni Sangam – A scenic riverside location where the Teesta and Rangeet rivers merge, popular for river rafting and camping.

Tinchuley – A quiet village known for organic farming, orange orchards, and stunning sunrise views over the Himalayas.

Takdah – A charming colonial-era hill station famous for its British bungalows, orchid centers, and tea gardens.

Peshok Tea Garden – A lush tea estate with breathtaking views of the tea-covered slopes and the Teesta River below.

Lovers’ Meet Point – A popular viewpoint offering dramatic views of the confluence of the Teesta and Rangeet rivers amid deep gorges.

Sightseeing tours to these places are arranged by the homestay at an approximate cost of ₹3500.

Best Time to Visit Peshok

Summer temperatures in Peshok range from 15°C to 25°C, while in winter they vary between 9°C and 23°C. What are you waiting for come to Sittong Tea Garden Homestay.

What do you think about Tea gardens in general? If you ask me, I’ll say tea gardens are one of the most soothing places on earth. Lush greenery, symmetrical tea shrubs – it often seems unreal and cinematic. The serene ambiance, beautiful orchards, exquisite greenery, and colorful flowers – is one of the best natural combinations you’ll ever experience.

Sittong is a cluster of little hamlets in the Kurseong Subdivision. It has an average altitude of almost 4000 ft. Although it is a great location with amazing views, Sittong is still fairly untouched by a swarm of tourists. If you are looking for a shopping complex or a great restaurant, Sittong might not be great for you, but if you are looking for a place with exceptional natural beauty, a peaceful atmosphere, and the best backdrop to watch the magnificent Mt. Kanchenjunga – Sittong is the best place to be.

Accommodation at Sittong Tea Garden Homestay

Our property, The Tea Garden View Resort is a beautiful, comfortable yet quaint staying option in Sittong. These orchards are private and it requires a nominal fee to enter the orchards. The best time to visit is between November and January when you can see the orange orchards in full bloom.

Ahaldhara Viewpoint

It is one of the more well-known spots to visit nearby. The distance between Ahaldhara Viewpoint and Sittong is around 32 km. In Ahaldhara, you can experience a 360-degree view of the entire mountain range including the Kanchenjunga Mountains. You can also see a rock formation resembling the famous poet Rabindranath Tagore.

Sittong Lepcha Monastery

Many of us love the smell of heritage. Most of us have sighed at the sight of a classic mid-18th century cottage and wished it were us living in that majestic piece of architecture. Will you be amazed if we tell you that there is a place where you can taste the legacy of an 18th-century British bungalow and the beauty of nature- at the very same place? Let me tell you about the tea garden at Sukhiapokhari. It is a beautiful, well-maintained tea garden with exceptional views of the Kanchenjunga Mountain Range. It is only 18 km from Darjeeling, which makes it easy to navigate.

Accommodation at Sukhia Pokhari Tea Estate

If you are a tea lover, you already know that this place is famous for white Oolong Tea. The resort is famous for its exceptional dishes, served hot right into your plate. The bonus is the fireplaces in these rooms, which are really cinematic.

Local Experience at Sukhia Pokhari Tea Esatate

The best part about this place is you can actively take a tour to experience the entire tea-making process. You can taste different kinds of tea, learn about the rich heritage of the estate, and also engage with tea plantation workers to discuss their colorful experiences here.

Nearby attractions

It is very well-connected to several popular tourist attractions nearby. The must-visit ones are-

Tiger Hill:

This place, for sure, needs absolutely no introductions. Famous worldwide for its Sunrise and Sunset views, Tiger Hill is just 33 km from Sukhia Pokhari Tea Estate. Although a 1.5 hr car ride, after you reach the views will be well worth it.

Ghoom Monastery

The serene Ghoom Monastery is only 18 km from our resort. People also call it Yiga Choeling Monastery and it is very famous for its 15ft Buddha Statue. The monastery is almost 200 years old and is a beautiful spot to de-stress.

Japanese Peace Pagoda

Standing as a symbol of prayer for world peace, Japanese Buddhist Monk Nichidatsu Fuiji made it.
